written by Sandy Bosserman, a former district executive and an ordained
minister in the Church of the Brethren. The Advent devotional is
published in a pocket-sized paperback format suitable for individual use
and for congregations to supply to their members. The theme “Awake” is
inspired by 1 Thessalonians 5:5-6 (NIV): “You are all children of the
light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the
darkness. So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us
